🎡 Cars on the Route

Nearly five years before the blockbuster animated movie "Cars" was
released, a team of Pixar designers went on a research tour of Route 66.
According to Route 66 historian Michael Wallis who led the trip, shortly
after entering Kansas, the team found a lonely old tow truck that most
folks would pass by without a second glance. Pixar's Head of Story Joe
Ranft, however, saw beyond its rust and broken-down-parts - he saw
the inspiration for the character Mater.
